VHIA Management Services

Provides a number of highly successful products to help improve your bottom line and minimize risks to your organization. This business development unit has a proven track record in the Health Industry, and some of the initiatives are listed below.

Project 2000 Plus

is a dynamic 8 week, 4 step process which is aimed at providing a more efficient and cost effective health service. It examines every department, group, process and system and it involves every staff member. Its primary focus is on finding better ways of doing business.

Project Business Plus

As a result of successful results achieved with larger agencies using the Project 2000+ product we have designed a new process specifically aimed at achieving organisational improvement in smaller health service facilities. We have sought to retain the essential elements and features of Project 2000+ but provide those benefits through a process more suited to organisations of a smaller dimension and scale.

Millard/VHIA Cleaning Audits

Until recently, the Victorian public hospital system lacked uniformity in standards, guidelines and auditing processes in relation to the monitoring of cleanliness levels. In response the Department of Human Services has developed Draft Cleaning Standards to be used as a basis for measuring and monitoring the cleaning services maintained in Victorian public hospitals. Hospitals are now required to meet these standards and thus require effective management systems to achieve this.

The Millard/VHIA system is a management tool designed for this purpose and is now being trialed and promoted to both public and private health services by VHIA. The key aspects of the Millard/VHIA system are that it is both systematic and comprehensive and seeks to integrate cleaning work practices with other quality control procedures within a health service.

Food Services

"Sustaining Efficiencies in Health Service Operations"

In recent years catering operations within health services have seen the development of a range of service models; in-house, out-sourced, a mixture of both, and franchising.

Ongoing changes to food service operations within the health sector are likely. Therefore it is essential that a sound base be established upon which agreed standards can be maintained and future planning built on.

Infection Control

Infection prevention and control in today's health care facility is crucial. The complexity of health care today can potentially result in many adverse events, infection being one of the most significant for the client and the health care agency.

VHIA has practicing Infection Control specialists that can evaluate and improve your infection control program. We will provide a total or targeted review of your existing infection control program and extend the Infection Control knowledge base of you staff.

Risk Assessment

In the Board's corporate governance role and activity, does it have a considered understanding of your organisation's risks? When making strategic or daily decisions, are managers similarly focussed?

Without having an understanding of the major risks, and their size, how likely is it that some significant ones don't have appropriate strategies applied. It's not hard to imagine why at times, Boards and Executives find themselves pondering some very unpalatable surprises.

Telecommunications

Telecommunications costs are typically the third largest annual expenditure in a medium to large scale organisation. In a health service, the communications infrastructure is a vital business system These communications facilities are becoming increasingly complex and need to be well managed and controlled. With constant changes to technology and pricing structures, experience has shown that there is a potential for achieving significant cost reduction ranging from 10% to over 20% p.a.

Managing Violence

VHIA has for some time been acutely aware of the increasing challenges that managers face in the health industry in meeting their responsibilities to employees and the duty of care owed to patients and visitors.

In response to this need, VHIA has joined forces with Barwon Health to market and deliver the Management of Violence and Aggression International Training (MOVAIT) program to the health industry.
